France rules on internet wine promotion

France’s National Assembly has passed a law allowing the advertising of alcohol on the internet.

The online promotion of wine had been stopped in recent months because the strict Evin Law on the promotion of alcohol in advertising and the media had not mentioned the internet – but only because the internet did not exist in its current form when the initial law was drawn up.

The move to allow online promotion has been welcomed by a large group..
