Bodies representing the UK drinks industry are warning the government that up to 75,000 jobs could be lost if plans to implement progressive tax rises are implemented over the next four years.
The research suggests that the retail price for alcohol will go up by 17% over the next five years, while sales will fall by 11%, bringing tax revenue to the government that would be £1.6 billion ($2.29 billion) lower than original estimates.
